The Trust supports the owners of historic properties, in Devon County and District Councils and in Torbay and Plymouth to restore buildings at risk that are perceived to have little or no prospect of redevelopment without losing character or historic features. With 37 projects large or small completed since 1973 the Trust has contributed to the preservation of Devon's ancient and period structures including houses, monuments, landscapes, street furniture and industrial buildings. (See history).

Summer teas in aid of charity Haldon Belvedere
Projects have included many listed buildings and the Trust has worked with English Heritage the statutory authorities to achieve affordable results even in the most dilapidated constructions.
The Trust operates as advisor in many situations where skills and experience are required.
Current projects include an historic barn in Plymouth, wartime monuments in Torquay and ancient buildings near Exeter.
An important part of the restoration project is finding uses for the building and an income to sustain its newly preserved state. A fine example of this is the preservation of the Trust's home at the Haldon Belvedere. This is an eighteenth century tower, built as part of the Haldon Estate founded by Sir Robert Palk to commemorate his long-time friend and colleague in India, General Stringer Lawrence. It stands in its own grounds with magnificent views across the Exe estuary and on to Exmoor and Dartmoor and is now used as a superb location for weddings.
The Trust is approachable for any size of project you may be considering, large or small. Contact the secretary for details by clicking on this link.
