Hill Farm, Landkey

The farmstead became part of a County Council smallholding but was redundant for current agricultural purposes being separated from the main farm group by a road. Its principal building is a one-roomed cottage of probably a 16C date. This cottage is semi-derelict and the proposals were to repair it and make it habitable, converting the adjacent cow-sheds attached to it into further accommodation.

Although the Trust had reservations about the conversion of agricultural buildings to domestic uses, it was felt that these small and relatively recent structures lend themselves to this purpose, even that the principle accommodation will be provided in the original house. The separate cob corn barn on the site was not converted but repaired as it stood to provide ancillary workshop and garage space.
