Nos 2 and 3 Cornhill,
Ottery St. Mary
 |
Located at the heart of the Conservation Area at Ottery St. Mary, these two listed buildings are both basically 18th century with attractive early to mid-19th century shop fronts. When drawn to the attention of the Trust in August, 1975, they were unoccupied and deteriorating rapidly. An existing planning permission for development as shops and flats had not been implemented and the Trust formulated its own proposals for a rehabilitation to provide 2 lock-up shops and maisonettes. Work started on site soon after the properties were acquired by the Trust in April, 1977. The successful contractor acquired the adjacent properties, 2, 4 and 6 Sandhill Street, concurrently for a separate private development which facilitated the achievement of mutually convenient access and parking arrangements. Work was completed in June, 1979, and both properties were sold on the open market at a net profit. |
